Happy Birthday Layla and Sunday adventures!!

We had a birthday party for our neighbor. She turns 3 on April 30th. They are moving to Alabama and leave this week. So, we had the party at our house yesterday. She requested a strawberry cake. So, I pulled out my Cake Mix Doctor cookbook and made a yummy strawberry cake with strawberry cream cheese frosting. It actually came out pretty well...I was glad!! Then, we had an egg hunt in the house and the kids played. It was a really fun little party...I'm so glad we could do it for her. She is a very sweet little girl and we will miss them a whole lot!! They have been a huge blessing to our family and have helped us out in so many ways...her Grandma has helped watched the boys many times for us last year when I was pregnant and she watched the boys while I went into labor with Abigail. We also used their swimming pool many times last summer and in parts of September...they would heat the pool for us to use in September!! What amazing neighbors! The boys know they are moving...but, I know they don't really understand what that means! So, it will be hard, but keeping in touch is much easier these days which is nice!!

So, that was our Saturday...now, I can share about Sunday! We went to church this morning and Kevin and I taught the boys SS class with 13 fun little 3 and 4 year olds...thankfully we could play outside for some of the time as we had 10 boys and 3 girls!! It was a good way to get excited about Christ's resurrection as we chanted, "Jesus is Alive". Maybe, we should all attend a child's SS class on Easter so we can have the same excitement as them to bring to church service. On our way home from church, Abigail fell asleep in the car so I put her down in her crib to finish her nap. We ate lunch real quick, then went to our neighbor's across the street for a little Easter party. We started to head home around 2:30 and we couldn't get our garage open. Somehow, it had got stuck and it wasn't opening. We asked a neighbor if she had a key to our house, but she didn't. So, thankfully our other neighbor's mom had a locksmith as a neighbor and he came over and eventually drilled a hole in our front door lock and got us in. It was so torturous being a mommy outside knowing that I was locked out of my house with my baby inside. Thankfully, she is a super great sleeper and was still asleep inside. And the locksmith said he didn't charge for service if a baby is locked inside!! Wow...thank you Lord! So, phew, my heart is now pounding normal now that we are inside and my baby is safe!! Happy Easter everyone!!

Sounds like you had a great bday party for your neighbor and an interesting Easter Sunday. :) Hehe. Praise the Lord for working in our lives, even in the small details - such as locksmith neighbors! LOL! God is good!
