Pink eye

Yes, we got pink eye this week. And oddly enough I was the one who got it first. Kevin left on Sunday afternoon to fly to Tampa. Then, I woke up Monday morning with pink eye in my left eye. So, we made it to the doctor and got medicine. Thankfully, my friend watched the children for me while I went to the doctor. She is so awesome and thankfully her family didn't get pink eye. I have to say that I wasn't thinking pink eye would be too horrible or make me feel sick or anything. Well, I was wrong. I was really tired on Monday and just pretty much survived the day with the kids. I napped on Monday and Tuesday during rest time and went to bed as soon as they went to bed at night. I thought on Tuesday I was all clear and we could have a more normal week...but, then I woke up with my right eye pink and yucky. So, I continued to wash sheets and wash and wash and wash my hands like a crazy woman. The children still did not get pink eye on Wednesday...I was pretty surprised and very thankful to God for that little gift. Then, Thursday, Caleb woke up with pink eye in both of his eyes. Yuck! So, we went to the pediatrician and got ointment for him. Today, he woke up and his eyes looked so much better. I think the ointment works better than my eye drops. Thankfully, TJ and Abigail both are still clear today. Yay!!

Kevin got home last night from Florida and I did my best to disinfect our house yesterday. Grandpa Beeker came and picked Abigail up today and she will spend the weekend with them so that we can go to Sesame Place!! That was the plan before pink eye and so as long as TJ doesn't get it tomorrow then we will go have a fun adventure at Sesame Place with the boys.

I didn't take pics of the pink eye people, but I have some from last week and from Mother's Day. I am very thankful to be recovering from pink eye and am praying that Abigail and TJ and Kevin continue to stay clear from it. It was a rough week for us. I felt like a horrible mommy and it was incredibly exhausting taking care of the kids and trying to take care of myself and not contaminate anyone. I'm thankful to God for helping us this week and for protecting Abigail and TJ. I just kept thinking how do you take care of a baby who has pink eye....they are always touching everything and touching their faces. Thank you Lord!

So sorry that you got pink eye! No fun! I got it when I was directing SUMFUN. I had to wear sunglasses inside, and I had to de-goop my eyes every morning and use those medicated eye drops, but that was BEFORE I had kids. I'm glad you're getting better! Hang in there! You're totally a SUPER mom to take care of your kiddos while feeling yucky! :)
