Kevin's sister and her family came to visit us a few weeks ago. I started blogging about it, but then it got put aside and I never finished it. We had a lovely time with them. It was unfortunately a very hot weekend when they came. It was in the 100's with the heat index even higher. So, we played inside quite a bit. The boys had a blast and so did Abigail. She loves being in the middle of the chaos.
We went swimming a few times in the evenings, played some Wii, and took a trip to Lowe's and Chik-fil-A. L0we's has a free build and grow project you can do with your kids every other Saturday. So, it worked out that the Saturday they visited was when they had a project. So all the boys went to do that and make wooden binoculars while the girls went shopping at Kohls. Fun was had by all!
The next weekend after their visit, we went to the farm for some good fruit picking. I will admit that I love to pick fresh fruit at the farm. I'm possibly addicted to picking fresh fruit. Kevin has to stop me from picking and move us on. Maybe I'll pick fruit when I retire. : ) We picked 52 lbs of peaches and 19 lbs of blackberries. I have to admit that I'm not so sure how much our children enjoy the picking...Caleb usually helps us pick, TJ eat snacks the whole time, and Abigail is in the stroller. But, we're all together and we get lots of yummy fruit. I froze a bunch of peaches, made peach cobbler, peach and blackberry trifle, and 2 peach pies. And we made 3 batches of blackberry jam which gave us 30 jars of jam. So, we now have 9 batches of jam made. I know it sounds a bit psycho, but I love it and its really hard not to go back to the farm knowing that there is more fruit to pick. : ) But, we won't go back till its time to pick apples. And that is a much more fun trip for everyone. They have a hayride and have the animals out and we get a pumpkin also. Much more fun, plus I'm not much of an apple girl so I don't go psycho picking them!!
