We went to Virginia Beach a week ago...the week of Labor Day. We rented a 3 bedroom cottage on the Dam Neck base. Kevin's parents and his Aunt came with us also. They stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage. We had such a lovely time. I was really glad we could do that. We were very thankful that Kevin's parents and aunt could come as well. They were very helpful with the kids. We were able to stay at the beach or pool later in the afternoon while Abigail took a nap with Grandma and Grandpa.
The weather was great also. It was still warm, but not too hot. We actually got 10 inches of rain here in Bowie, but only a tiny bit at the beach. The ocean was a little rough, so we didn't go too deep...but the boys had a great time jumping in the waves and playing in the sand. They played at the beach for 4 or 5 hours. It was so fun! I love the ocean and the sun and the sand. And thankfully, my husband is so wonderful and takes me there.
The base also had a little water park type pool that had 6 water slides. It was open until Labor Day...so we went on Saturday and Monday. It was the perfect water park cause the boys could go on 3 of the slides. It was also a nice way to end our summer of swim lessons. Abigail came to the water park as well and had fun in the baby pool...she felt like such a big girl. She pretty much thinks she is a 3 year old boy and can do what they can do. She does not like to be left out and if they are going outside then she wants to be outside as well.
Kevin and his dad took the boys bowling one afternoon while Abigail napped and I hung out with Kevin's mom. The boys really enjoyed that. That was the first time they had gone bowling. And it worked out that each person won a game. Caleb and TJ were on one lane and Kevin and his dad were on the other.
The other nice "relaxing" thing we did was Kevin and I were able to do some working out. Kevin's dad would watch the kids for us in the morning while we worked out. One morning his dad had to do some work so Kevin watched the kids while I went for a run. We had run on the beach one time earlier in the week so I decided to do that again. I did the same route, but had a little problem. I was about to turn around when this guy in military uniform started to walk towards me with a walkie talkie. I thought...wow, I should run faster cause this guy is running in his boots and uniform and I am a slacker. Then, he started to walk to me and I realized he was trying to talk to me. So, I took my earphones out and he said that there was fire which I thought he meant there was a fire. But he meant that there was a firing range and people were shooting their guns to practice. He said they were pretty far away and probably a bullet wouldn't hit me, but there was always a possibility that a bullet could miss and hit me in the head. Nice, huh? I apparently missed the small sign and red flag and didn't hear the shooting (Cause of my ipod, I was really jamming with my music having a nice run...I mean no kids out on the beach ). Well, it would have actually been nice to just turn around and run back cause that would have been quicker but once I was off the beach, they resumed shooting and I had to go back on the road. I made it back fine, but my run was a little longer than expected and I was a bit embarrassed when I had to run past the large group of military people shooting their guns. : ) So, yeah, that's my I almost got shot in the head story : ) When I got back and told Kevin about the story...I said to him...its not real ammo in the guns, is it? Yes...real ammo! Oh, thank you Lord for keeping me safe!!!

LOL! I'm super glad you didn't get shot in the head too! :) Isn't it good to know that God watches out for us even when we don't watch out for ourselves? Hehe. Love ya Mommy Friend!
